University of Zurich hosts the Swiss National Bank

On November 22th, the University of Zurich proudly hosted the Swiss National Bank for this annual "SNB and Its Watchers" conference. The event began with a welcome speech by Florian Scheuer UBS Foundation Professor of Economics of Institutions and Chairman of the Department, who highlighted that "𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘻𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺".

The keynote lecture was delivered by Martin Schlegel, a distinguished alumnus from our Department who completed his Master’s degree in 2003. Martin Schlegel reflected on Switzerland's unique economic challenges, noting that "...𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘻𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘦𝘴".

The conference brought together financial experts from around the world to engage in insightful panel discussions on topics such as inflation and policy changes.
