Ingvild Almås Appointed Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Professor of Child and Youth Development
We are delighted to announce that Professor Ingvild Almås will join the Department of Economics at the University of Zurich in June 2025 as the Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Professor of Child and Youth Development.

Professor Almås is currently a Professor of Economics at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) at Stockholm University. Her research focuses on deepening our understanding of economic inequalities, with a particular emphasis on their causes and consequences.
“I’m thrilled to join this pioneering center and collaborate with such a talented group of researchers. Together, we have a unique opportunity to fill critical knowledge gaps and generate research results that are important for the design of policies to promote child development, support parents, and address challenges related to poverty and inequalities. It is an inspiring mission, and I am honored to be part of it,” says Professor Almås.
We extend our sincere gratitude to David Yanagizawa-Drott and Anne Brenøe for their outstanding leadership and commitment to the center. Both will remain actively involved as affiliated members.
We are also deeply grateful to the Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation for their generous support, which enables the center to continue to build a holistic understanding of decision-making, market forces, and the cost-benefits of breastfeeding, to ultimately guide policy formation and interventions which improve the well-being of children, families, and society.
The Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation, established in Switzerland in 2013, is an independent philanthropic organization revitalizing the journey from science to impact. The Foundation’s priority is to increase breastfeeding rates worldwide, so its focus is on helping build innovative, efficient pathways to get there. The team supports and collaborates with researchers, policymakers, practitioners, government leaders, and partner organizations working to ensure every child has an optimal start in life through the benefits of breastmilk.
