Environmental economics applies the principles of economics to the study of how natural resources are managed and the effects of existing or proposed environmental policies.

• Does expanding regional train service reduce air pollution?
• What are long-term effects of encouraging shale gas in an economy where energy can be produced with coal, or shale gas, or a clean energy source?
